Ø  What Pantofir 40 mg gastro-resistant tab are and what they are used for

The active substance in PANTOFIR is PANTOPRAZOLE.
PANTOFIR (pantoprazole) is a selective“proton pump inhibitor”, a medicine that reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach.

PANTOFIR is used for:
Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over:
- reflux oesophagitis, inflammation of the oesophagus accompanied by regurgitation of gastric acid.
Adults:
- Treatment of infection caused by a bacterium called Helicobacter pylori in patients with duodenal ulcer and gastric ulcer, in combination with two antibiotics (eradication therapy). The aim is to eliminate bacteria so as to reduce the chance of these ulcers returning.
- stomach and duodenum ulcers.
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other conditions in which too much acid is produced in the stomach.

Ø  2. How to take Pantofir 40 mg gastro-resistant tab

Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age:

For treatment of reflux oesophagitis:
The usual dose is one tablet a day. The dose may be increased to 2 tablets a day .The treatment period for reflux oesophagitis is usually between 4 and 8 weeks. 
Adults:

For the treatment of one’infection with a bacterium called Helicobacter pylori in patients with duodenal ulcer and gastric ulcer, in combination with two antibiotics (eradication therapy):
One tablet of PANTOFIR together with two tablets of antibiotic between amoxicillin, clarithromycin and metronidazole (or tinidazole), twice a day.
Take the first tablet of PANTOFIR 1 hour before breakfast and the second tablet of PANTOFIR 1 hour before the evening meal.
The usual treatment period is one to two weeks.

·         For the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers:
The usual dose is one tablet a day, which even can be doubled.The treatment period for gastric ulcers is usually between 4 and 8 weeks. The treatment period for duodenal ulcers is usually between 2 and 4 weeks.

For long-term treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other conditions in which too much acid is produced in the stomach:
The recommended starting dose is usually two tablets a day.
