MECHANISM OF ACTION

CALIXAM CREAM contains the active ingredient piroxicam, which is a type of medicine called a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). NSAIDs are used to relieve pain and inflammation.

Piroxicam blocks the production of the prostaglandins and is therefore effective in reducing inflammation and relieving pain.

THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS

- CALIXAM CREAM is used to relieve local pain and inflammation in various muscle, joint, tendon and ligament conditions or injuries, such as the following:

• Osteoarthritis in joints such as the knee, wrists or ankles.
• Inflammation of the tissue around a joint (periarthritis), for example frozen shoulder.
• Tennis elbow (epicondylitis).
• Inflammation of a tendon (tendinitis).
• Inflammation of a tendon sheath (tenosynovitis).
• Muscular sprains and strains.

HOW TO USE CALIXAM CREAM?

• The recommended dose is 1 g Calixam (10 mg piroxicam) applied in the affected area 2 to 3 times a day.
• The gel should be rubbed gently into the skin over the affected area until it is absorbed.
